Your body is their business! Five young students at a Buddhist university, three guys and two girls, find little call for their job skills in today's Tokyo... among the living, that is! But all that stuff in college they were told would never pay off — you know, channeling, dowsing, ESP — gives them a direct line to the dead... the dead who are still trapped in their corpses and can't move on to the next reincarnation.

The five form the Kurosagi ("Black Heron" — their ominous bird logo) Corpse Delivery Service: whether suicide, murder, accident, or illness, they'll carry your body wherever it needs to go to free your soul! The kids from Kurosagi can smell a customer a mile away — it's a good thing one of the girls majored in embalming!

"The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service" takes place in modern Japan and tells the story of an organization which shares the same name as the manga's title. The group consists of members named Kuro Karatsu, a buddhist who can communicate with corpses, Ao Sasaki, the supposed "brains" of the group, Makoto Numata, a young man who specializes in "dowsing," Yuji Yata, who specializes in "channeling," and communicates with a hand-puppet, Keiko Makino, and a young lady who specializes in "embalming." The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service's job is to deliver wrongly abandoned corpses to their proper places in order for their souls to fully succeed in reincarnation.

My thoughts were that this manga was worth reading, and I find it a shame that it's very underrated. I find that this series also drives away from the typical Shounen/Seinen manga genre, and the character designs are really diverse. It presents very mysterious and creepy vibes, and it does not seem that it's trying too hard to be "unique" and "weird," which is what I also like. However, I wouldn't get more into this series, (mostly because I'm in the middle of finishing another novel at the moment) yet I would reccomend this to open-minded anime and manga fans.

A little odd, and oddly compelling, The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service is the story of 5 broke college students with unique abilities who take on the task of fufulling the last wishes of the dead. It sounds weird, but it's a fantatsitic story!

And now for something entirely different and not for children, I present the Kurosagi corpse delivery service. This manga revolves around a group of graduated university students who finish unfinished business of the dead. Five people in all, six if you count the talking alien puppet, each with their own unique ability: communing with the dead, embalmer, dousing expert, computer/hacking expert, and the guy who channels an alien through the puppet on his hand. Part CSI, part supernatural, this series is fantastic and I can’t wait until the next one comes out! The library has volumes 1 – 7 so far. Staff picks 2008

This series is one of the best English translations of a manga currently being released. In fact, I think it's even funnier than the original.

College students combine their powers (Hacking! Dowsing! Embalming!) to try to earn some money while putting the dead to rest. Heads up, it contains some graphic violence (or the aftermath) and one pottymouth Muppet.
