“The first thing I did with my very first camera was climb Mt. Fuji. Climbing Mt. Fuji is a lesson in determination and moderation. It would be fair to ask if I took the moderation part to heart. But it certainly was a lesson in respecting your camera. If I was going to live with this thing, I was going to have to think about what that meant. There were not going to be any pictures without it."
—Annie Leibovitz

Annie Leibovitz describes how her pictures were made, starting with Richard Nixon's resignation, a story she covered with Hunter S. Thompson, and ending with Barack Obama's campaign. In between are a Rolling Stones Tour, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, The Blues Brothers, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Keith Haring, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Patti Smith, George W. Bush, William S. Burroughs, Kate Moss and Queen Elizabeth. The most celebrated photographer of our time discusses portraiture, reportage, fashion photography, lighting, and digital cameras.

This is a good Hallmark movie (is there any other kind) which starts out pretty predictable with Jenny Stanton, hardworking event planner with a heart of gold overworking for her elderly boss, Petra, and loving every minute of it. Along comes the boss's relative: Nick the quick and suddenly we are prepared to dislike him for taking Jenny's place in the boss's hierarchy. But wait, enter smooth, suave, dark and handsome customer to take Jenny's mind off of Nick's moving in on her territory. The main characters and supporting cast were all good. Despite what was originally thought, Nick will end up being the one many are rooting for (including me) and in the end, (one of the best parts of Hallmark movies) it has a happy ending. I would watch this movie more than once and not just at Christmas. Thanks to the Library staff for having it among the library titles. No worries about words or actions inappropriate for the entire family with Hallmark.

Her own words fall short for me. I can't help but feel there is much more to what she has done; but it is entirely possible that she really didn't think that much about it. Just takin' pictures.

4.5/5 An interesting and informative essay style, describing the inside approach taken during several of her assignments over the years.
