I just couldn't get into this book as the characters seem so dumb, a doctorate in physics and he can't figure out the obvious dangers of fooling around with events even after his father tells him of the dangers. Son the stove is very, very hot please don't touch it. Ouch, I just had to check Dad, I'm sorry. The author does much better in all of the other books I have read.

Fascinating book, with a thought provoking premise.
Not your ordinary time travel reading material, I recommend this to everyone.

I was expecting great things from this book, as time travel is my favourite of all sci-fi topics, and I wasn't exactly disappointed but I guess I was looking for more action. It is "realistic" (if you can say that about a time travel book) in the sense that if a regular person had the ability to time travel this is probably what they'd do. The foreshadowing in the prologue made me think that a lot more would be taking place in the future, while most of it is visiting historical figures of the past that they admire. So, not a bad book, just not really like Doctor Who or Back to the Future.

Time Travellers Never Die --- by Jack McDevitt --- What a book, what a book, what a book. What a yarn! Jack’s not the first author to fish in the deep waters of time travel. Books on the subject have almost become legion. Even mainstream fiction has used the device as a vehicle to prepare the ground for a tale. McDevitt spins a good yarn. His voyagers travel to ancient Greece; to the march at Selma; to the opening night of Shakespeare’s Hamlet at the Globe; to see the great comet of 1811 and to visit with Michelangelo. The novel is full of twist and turns the greatest of which is when they have to “un-kill” one of the travellers. There’s mystery; there’s suspense and there’s fun adventure. Just the book that you’ll enjoy reading.

This book was entertaining from start to finish. For A time travel novel it was first rate. the plot moves quickly and the charaters were interesting and believeable. well worth the time. A great summer read.

Not the best of Jack McDevitt's work, or perhaps I am used to expect lots from this author. Although a lighter read than books from Academy series, it is not as much fun as Alex Benedict books. Still, the book was interesting enough to make it worth while.
