"A teenage girl is assaulted and raped on a midsummer's eve fifteen years ago. Cut to present, and a man is killed in a hit and run. He has no identification on him, he is not reported missing nor wanted by the police. Simultaneously a priest and his wife are found dead in an apparent suicide. Fredrika Bergman and her colleagues are assigned to the seemingly unconnected cases. Skillfully crafted and highly suspenseful, Silenced is a gripping thriller, where the demise of one family is mirrored in the general failure of human rights - and where the casualties of one tragedy abuse the victims of another"-- Provided by publisher.

The second book in the Fredrika Bergman and Alex Recht series. I am a big fan of the Scandinavian mystery novels and this book is no exception. Although I figured out one answer to the puzzle before the end, this is still a page- turner!! Recommend the series and author. Kristi & Abby Tabby

This is an ok Scandinavian mystery. I listened to it and the book had some issues as an audio. The narrative changes viewpoint fairly often and you really had to pay attention to know whose viewpoint it switched to. I found this book just average and might have set it aside without finishing if I were reading instead of listening. I did not find it "gripping" as the summary says. However, just as an aside, I was impressed with how understanding police management was about their officers' private lives and how refreshing it was when the chief would say "go home, eat and sleep. We will continue on Monday" to his team. Sheesh that would never happen in the US.

This was a very complex plot, but was certainly a 'page turner'. I expect I'll read more of her books.

Very complicated - perhaps more so because of the translation.

This is a complicated mystery/thriller about Swedes and the trafficking of illegal aliens. All the police protagonists had a a little too much going on in the way of relationship baggage. It didn't actually get in the way of the story, but was still unnecessary.
