SUMMARY: Arthur loved to play with his mother nearby. But today he was going to Grandma's for the whole day. He had never been away from Mommy all day before. He wears his favorite dragon costume to play dragons with Grandma at her house. He was grumpy at first, but Grandma did her best to distract Arthur after Mommy left. Finally, he was able to settle in and enjoy playing with Grandma until Mommy came home.

ILLUSTRATIONS; The illustrations are very clear, clean, colorful, nicely detailed and absolutely adorable. Arthur is so cute I want to reach in and hug him.

THE GOOD: This is a very sweet story of a boy who doesn't want to leave his mommy and is very emotional about it. The story does a wonderful job of showing real emotion without going to any extremes. Mom and Grandma did their best to distract him from his fears so he could have a good time and not worry. And by the time Mommy comes back, Arthur has had a wonderful time giving him something to look forward to in the future. I especially love the scene where Arthur and Mommy rub their noses together and say, "Rubby Nosies." I look forward to Corderoy's new book, I Want My Daddy.

The most adorable illustrations ever!
The mouse is in a dragon costume...it is cuteness wrapped in cuteness.
Arthur's mother leaves him with his grandmother one day, and he misses her terribly, but his grandmother knows what to do. She strikes a chord with his imagination, and they end up playing the day away. The emotions and expressions of Arthur are varied, and captured perfectly, and thinking back to our own child hoods, we can all relate to his feelings of missing a mother. This is the perfect book for children, as more and more mothers also have to have jobs, and cannot always be stay-at-home moms.
