Absolute unbelievable rubbish. Storm in a teacup.

Geeeeezzz, the opening scene of this book has the main character climbing out onto a Boeing 767 while it is airborne to fix the aileron? Now that is a bit too much even for me . . . .
It's really written for the average 11-year-old, not adult category, and the author and the main character both sound like candy butts.

A breezy kind of read with private eye and occasional spy Derrick Storm taking things personally after he narrowly escapes death on an airplane meant to crash. A new technology and unseen players are behind it. There are a sprinkling of inside jokes throughout, and one about the death of a minor character on the Castle series is very welcome. I liked the pacing, the globetrotting, and the sense of humour.

This is the first book by this author I have read. It was not as detailed on the archaeology angle as I would have wished; the author just sort of drops that story line. The promethium laser part was intriguing, and sounded very plausible. The main "bad guy" was reminiscent of the megalomaniacs often seen in the 007 series; although it took me a while to guess the person's identity. A quick read but lacking in depth.
