I am so excited to have found what promises to be a fantastic, highly engaging new series! I read the whole book within 24 hours, very entertaining read, Charley is a wonderful character, her sense of humour is laugh out loud. I'm hooked on this series. Can't wait to get my hands on the next instalment. Highly recommend to any reader who enjoys this genre. FOUR AND A HALF STAR RATING - for some reason I could not colour in the stars.

I couldn't get past the first few pages. She's trying so hard to be funny, it's awkward. And of course, usual best friend with 'quirky" name who is apparently entirely irrational. Nope, unbearably pedestrian.

Two things I like about this book series. First, the characters. Charley is always a smart-ass, or " bad-ass " ( in her opinion). Second, I like the smart, catchy phrases/ quotes that accompany the start of each chapter of the book. Phrases and quotes derived from either the character Charley, t-shirts,bumpers,or real people. A few of these phrases/quotes that I like are : " If It Has Tires Or Testicles, It's Gonna Give You Trouble "- Bumper Sticker , " I Stopped Fighting My Inner Demons. We're On The Same Side Now. " - T-Shirt , and " You Can Observe A Lot Just By Watching. "- Yogi Berra .

Fun, fast read. I love the sarcastic T-shirt slogans that start each chapter.

Thank YOU Darynda Jones for some more laughs. This series is a MUST for all paranormal fans! Besides, not much of a commitment as both book 1 and 2 are only 300 pages. DJ gets to the point with some funnies here and there. Sometimes humor in books can be distracting but with Charley it not only fits but makes her character all that much more love-her-want-to-be-her!There was a little bit more going on in this installment and some nice family development towards the end. Nothing too deep and the storyline has enough to keep a reader interested.I can’t help but wonder however...what’s up with Reyes. Book 1 starts with them already having a sexual relationship ... kinda ... there is no "getting to know one another". Just read like lust (in book 1). In this book we see she has deeper feelings but it seems to make little sense to me as she doesn’t even know the real him...corporeal or incorporeal.By the way, HATED Reyes when he called her a bad name. I digress ... great, fun book. Recommend to ALL!

Who knew a book about the son of satan and the grim reaper could be such fun and sizzling hot? I love Darynda Jones' writing style. I also dig that Charley's powers are being revealed over time. Seriously awesome stuff.

Loved this book! It was fun & funny. I've now started the first in the serious and waiting for the next two after this one (a little out of order, but oh well!).

This book kind of suffers from the sophomore curse as it doesn't measure up to the first one. For me, this was mostly due to the author's repeated attempts at humour as much of it falls short & is just not funny. I agree with bookfanatic's comment about Reyes. Either make him a full fledged part of the story or cut him loose & move on. After the first book, I was looking forward to Charley learning more about who & what she is but that doesn't really happen. She's just kind of stuck where she is. Hopefully, that storyline will evolve in the next one.
