I loved this book- I was a bit apprehensive about the Civil War period because it makes me sad in general, but the story was well done and really interesting to me. Sweet love story and enjoyable read.

This is my first novel by renowned Christian historical fiction author Tamera Alexander. I am so glad that I started the series, and equally as glad that I own them! Alexander is a fantastic author who can easily create a multi-layered, realistic, and involving world in the pages of a book. Her style is compelling, the characters complex and heartfelt, and the plot is just the right amount of complicated. In "To Whisper Her Name", we are not only introduced to our heroine, Olivia, but also to the post-antebellum South immediately following the Civil War. Olivia finds herself in an awkward position as the hired companion to her mother's friend. Alone after her husband's gruesome death, she is reluctantly welcomed into a prestigious Harding family's home. As she searches for her calling, she finds herself crossing paths with the mysterious Riley Adam Cooper – who isn't quite what he seems, and has a weighted past of his own. In the inflammatory post-Civil War South, Alexander brings to life a horse farm (with stunning descriptions of horse gentling!), an intimately written cast of characters with complicated pasts, and the power of God's Grace. I can't think of a thing I didn't like about this book!

This is a great read. The characters are wonderful, the romance is very real, and the story is touching. The author has clearly put a lot of time into making the story historically accurate. I would definitely recommend this book if you like historical fiction.

EPIC book!!

This was a beautiful and convincing love story. I like how the author writes passionate stories of hope and restoration. I enjoyed this one..many times i felt like i was actually there, experiencing what the characters were facing and being close to the romance it was tasteful and tangible. It was well written, well read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The roguish humor of the ranch foreman and the proper southern lady made me laugh out loud.
