Cara always knew life on planet L'eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L'eihr boyfriend, back on Earth, working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her. Things look up when Cara is appointed as human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L'eihr. A society melding their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L'eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side. Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L'eihr relations. Humans don't know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx's people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and hardly bat an eye at extremists' multiple attempts on Aelyx's life. The Way clearly needs humans' help...but with what? And what will they ask for in return?

Although it started a bit slow, it had a strong and exciting finish. Knowing that it is the second book of a trilogy, I was fully prepared this time for unfinished elements to the overall story. I'm looking forward to the final book and what I presume will be even more suspenseful and fun.

Sequels, whether they be books or movies, make me nervous. More often than not they are either cheap imitations of the first or are not nearly as good and almost put the first to shame. I had my fingers crossed when I began Invaded hoping neither of those would happen. Not only did Melissa Landers create another installation that matched the first in every way that made it spectacular, but she even went BEYOND that. Again I was impressed and again I loved it!!!! The series remained intelligent and non-stereotypical of young adult literature (especially romance literature) and was "feelsy" and suspenseful. Again I was hooked. When I only had a few chapters left I wondered, "Gee, it's almost over. How is she [Melissa Landers] going to fix all this in a few chapters?" She DIDN'T! She made it crazier and THEN kind of fixed things and paved the way for a third book, which I'm so excited for. And while I'm on the topic of praising this series I absolutely love the covers, they're so beautiful and convey the stories and themes perfectly.
