Dramatic, violent, cataclysmic, hard hitting - it successfully portrays Doomsday as the threat he was originally portrayed as when he first came on the scene.

Really enjoyed this movie I was little bit nervous about the animation but I quickly got adjusted to it. The action scenes were intense just the way I like it. They did not hold back.

Warning, this is not a regular movie with actors, it is a cartoon. We lasted 3 minuets and turned it off. Hate that kind of crap. I should have paid better attention to what it said on the lable. I won't make that mistake again.

The back cover of the DVD has a very detailed realistic-looking 3D image of Superman battling Doomsday. Very misleading. I was expecting this image to be a still frame from the movie. Highly disappointed. The actual movie was just standard TV-like flat cartoon style animation.

Way better than the movie Batman V Superman. The drawings could have been better.

A good adaption of the Death of Superman, it used all the themes that made the original such a great story and it was also interesting to see all the A list Justice League members go up against Doomsday and loose badly. As opposed to the B listers from the print edition. Now what detracted from this version was, that the voice acting was a little weak and you could tell where they skimped on the animation budget (hint it was most of the non-fight scenes). As to Doomsday's backstory, the original didn't have it and frankly this version didn't need it either. However, they did provide some good hints to where he came from, Lex nailed it and the heat vision was the second hint. Overall a great rendition of a iconic comic book story arc.

Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice had a reported budget of $250 million according to Box Office Mojo. While I was unable to find any budget figures for this animated film, DC animation's comparable 2015 Justice League: Throne of Atlantis cost in the region of $3.5 million dollars.

Just putting that out there.

My initial thought was, “why a remake?”. Saw the bonus material and realized that DC was continuing the storyline with all the other Supermen characters. Another movie or two, then the big guy returns. Fair enough. Overall, I enjoyed this update. However, the one glaring item that sticks out is the antagonist. I never read the comics, so I have no idea how he came about. Why not allow five minutes for his backstory? Considering DC was “killing” off the strongest JL member, giving the villain screen time to develop seemed like a prerequisite. It would’ve solidified the whole feature, at least to me.

There was a book called "The Life And Death of Superman" which I read, which was based on the comic book arc with Doomsday. which I didn't read. I wonder if this is based on them.

The DVD was good. A little more backstory on Doomsday would have been appreciated to make the storyline smoother.
