Enjoyed this book and found it very unusual but easy to read. A good summer (beach) read I would say. The older wiser richer New York people take over the lives an innocent young couple at Cape May for their honeymoon. This leads to a lot of happenings/trouble. They started out so unaware of the world but did not end up as such. Look forward to more books by this author.

Georgia newlyweds honeymoon at an uncle’s cottage on Cape May, NJ, in 1957 in the offseason.

Author’s debut that was on many summer reading lists. What started as a sweet love story got a little sordid to me. Felt these Bright Young Things could have been in Hemingway’s 'A Movable Feast,' just another place and time. Lots of drinking, lots of sex. Skimmed at end.

I read a review on another site that refers to this book as a teen age boy’s soft core fantasy. Which is a spit on review. Didn’t finish.

Two small-town newlyweds in 1957 honeymoon in a beach resort town during the offseason. They fall into the orbit of a bohemian group of socialites, and lose themselves in lazy, magical, erotic, gin-soaked afternoons. Exploration leads to passion and betrayal. Expertly crafted, with a strong sense of setting and deft handling of characters.
