Of all Connelly's books in the Harry Bosch series, this one, while not one of the best, shows how complex a man Harry is. Dedicated, relentless in the pursuit of a suspect, desperate to obtain justice for the victim and her family, he is nonetheless reckless and dangerous to himself and his partner. You like and respect him, but at the same time you want to slap his head , and tell him to wake up, and be smarter. A complex man if ever there was one. He is his own worst enemy.
